Irgendwie scheint es in Mode zu kommen, auf seinem Blog ein Gästebuch anzubieten. Da stellt sich mir die Frage: ist das nicht redundant?

For those of us who speak some English, there is an interesting little catfight over literally nothing: Shelley Powers vs. Maryam Scoble. As far as I can tell, ignited by some chap by the blog-name of raving lunacy, who quickly threw in some insults like „Blithering Idiot“ and is now probably sitting back and enjoying how things evolve. Reading some of those entries, George Carlin constantly bantered around in the back of my head about why America goes to war ever so often…

And while I refuse to directly comment, I wonder if I can sell the idea of „Blogwars“ to Fox or even to HBO. I’m not entirely sure if it would be sitcom or drama, but I probably will spend my royalties for the „Retirement Home for Those, Who Already Had Their 15-GB-of-Fame.“ 😀

Okay, one side note about the Scobles: ever since he dropped out of Microsoft, I stopped reading his blog–I’m not into pad-casts altogether–but I still read hers. So far about dependencies.

Sorry, es gibt keinen Beitrag anzuzeigen…

Könnte daran liegen, daß mein DeLorean kaputt ist, und ich gerade keine Beiträge für 2007 schreiben kann, oder daran, daß die Admins bei blog.de eine neue Speichermethode eingebaut haben. Aber da ja mit einem neuen Beitrag alles wieder gut sein soll, kann es jetzt ja nicht mehr zu Fehlern kommen. Da bin ich ja mal gespannt.

So, denn erstmal allen Bloggern (und Nichtbloggern!) ein Gesundes Neues! Während sich WoW noch mit dem Patch 1.9 rumschlägt, versuche ich gerade, die im Weihnachtsurlaub aufgelaufenen Mails abzuarbeiten. Und ein bißchen am Haus zu räumen. Und eigentlich müssen wir uns von der Rundreise erholen. Und… wieso muß Freizeit immer in Streß ausarten? 🙄 Naja, wird schon werden. Wieviel Tage sind’s noch bis Weihnachten?

Ja spinn‘ ich denn jetzt völlig? Erst wollte ich gar kein Blog haben, und jetzt habe ich drei? Aber egal, ich fand den Mix aus privaten und beruflichen Einträgen mittlerweile etwas verwirrend und da ich eh mehr lernen muß, zu trennen, habe ich den ganzen Softwarekram so weit es irgend ging in mein neues Architecture Blog ausgelagert.

Das ist doch mal eine Klasseidee: Ein Bloglisting nicht anhand von staubtrockenen Links, sondern anhand von „Paßbildern.“ 40 Faces bietet diesen Service – vorerst leider nur für englischsprachige Blogs. Aber wie bei guten Ideen üblich, wird sich sicher bald ein deutsche Nachahmer finden. Noch ist die Domain http://www.vierziggesichter.de/ zu haben. 🙂

There really is a guide for everything. To be perferctly blunt, I didn’t even knew that there is a web-usability-guru. But recently Jakob Nielsen wrote about the The Top Ten Design Mistakes for Blogs, so I had to check it out:

1. No Author Biographies
Okay, got me. But then, this isn’t really a curriculum vitae, so I skip it for now.

2. No Author Photo
Yesh! I am a cute and cuddly tom-cat. Indeed.

3. Nondescript Posting Titles
Description is in the eye of the reader. 😉 But I’m trying.

4. Links Don’t Say Where They Go
I’m no friend of those „here and there“ links either.

5. Classic Hits are Buried
I don’t know if any of these entries deserve the mark „classic,“ so I leave it to others to determine if there is a „must read“ in this blog or not.

6. The Calendar is the Only Navigation
I’m trying to keep my tags nice and simple, but other then that I don’t have much saying in the blog-design.

7. Irregular Publishing Frequency
The day the blog rules my live, I quit blogging. Sorry chap, I publish when I feel the need to, not if time’s up.

8. Mixing Topics
D’oh! Really, am I mixing professional and private postings? Shame on me. But I don’t feel like two blogs already. On the other hand, he has a point there…

9. Forgetting That You Write for Your Future Boss
No I don’t, but I try to keep my postings reader-friendly, honest and I do not swear. So I think I got that one covered.

10. Having a Domain Name Owned by a Weblog Service
Guilty. On the other hand: I have my own domain, but no blog-service available. Perhaps I can do somthing about it. Does a redirect count? Would be a start…

So, I feel a bit mixed about the issue. As always, I feel compelled to disobay with the rules as much as I know I might be better off complying. On the other hand: I got a 3 out of 10. Not that bad for my first blog…
